Admissions sat down with Ryan to learn a little more about who he is and what he loves about UWF. Hear from his perspective to learn more about UWF.

    About Ryan

Ryan was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and raised in Brandon, Florida. He has lived in various cities across the country, including Chicago, Illinois, and Denver, Colorado, before returning to his home in Pensacola. Ryan came to the University of West Florida (UWF) to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. Initially uncertain about his path, he discovered a sense of belonging through intramurals, fraternity and sorority life, and the Recreation and Wellness department. The camaraderie he found within these communities and the broader campus environment played a significant role in his personal growth. Ryan is passionate about sports—his first love being baseball—coaching, and traveling.

What's the best part of your job?

The best part is being the person students moving into their next chapter can rely on!

What's the best thing about UWF?

The best thing about UWF is sense of belonging. From our programs to our clubs and organizations! UWF has something for everyone to get involved in and the ability to get involved is as easy as saying hello.

Why did you come to UWF?

I chose to attend UWF because I wanted a school where I could truly grow. In high school, I hadn’t planned on going to college, but my best friend encouraged me to apply, and it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. Before coming to UWF, I was quite introverted, but within my first week on campus, I connected with so many people who became friends. This experience has transformed me in ways I never expected.

What's your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spots on campus related to my classes as well as my leisure time! “The Rec” or recreation facility and the intramural fields were where I spent most of my time. I was really big into all intramurals and everything the gym had to offer.

    What makes Pensacola special?

Pensacola is by far the most special place in my heart. From one of the most beautiful beaches in the country to the amazing people I have met. Penascola is where I have met my closest friends and even my wife!
