Admissions sat down with Nate to learn a little more about who he is, what he loves about UWF, and the top questions he hears from students and families considering UWF. Hear from his perspective to learn more about UWF.
About Nate
Nate is from Pembroke Pines in South Florida. He came to UWF as a student majoring in general studies. He chose UWF to "try something different" outside of the larger city he grew up in and to make an impact. He loves Dachshunds, reading, and "The Office," and his favorite movie is "The King's Speech" because it's about overcoming a challenge.
What's the best part of your job?
Interacting with people and seeing the reaction of parents as their children progress to the next stage in their life. You don't see that too often in real time.
What's the best thing about UWF?
The fact that we individualize each person. It draws your true self out. We tailor your education specifically to who you are.
What's your favorite spot on campus?
The Soccer Complex track at the east end of campus. I like the nature and openness.
What makes Pensacola special?
The community events. I'm always trying to do something. It can be overwhelming if you don’t pace yourself. What isn’t there to do?
What can students expect at UWF?
There's a family atmosphere. With a medium-size University, you build more close-knit relationships because people are of that mindset. You’re around folks who also like that and stick with one another as much as we can.
What are the top questions you get asked about UWF?
What separates you from other universities? It's how we personalize education, high-impact practices, experiences unlike anywhere else, and smaller class sizes. People take that for granted when you say that, but that means something.
What is an Argonaut? It’s a Greek mythological sea warrior. You gotta steer the boat, and you gotta fight!
